If your roof is approaching the end of its life, renewing it and installing solar together can be the better long-term approach. Cube Solar coordinates the roof, solar and battery as one carefully managed project.

Solar panels are designed to stay on a roof for decades. If the roof underneath is already near the end of its life, it will probably need attention while the panels are still working.
That means scaffolding up again, the panels lifted off and stored, the roof renewed, and the system refitted and recommissioned. It can be done, but it is cost and disruption you can often avoid.
If the roof is ageing, or a reroof is already on the cards, it is worth considering both together. Do it once. Do it properly.
Instead of organising a roofer, a scaffolder, a solar installer and an electrician separately, and then working out who does what and in what order, you deal with Cube from the survey to the handover.
The value is not just convenience. It is that the roof, the solar layout, the cable routes and the battery are designed as one system, sequenced properly on site, and checked by the same people who designed them.
The roofing is carried out by experienced roofing specialists as part of the Cube project. The solar, battery and electrical work is done by our own electricians.
Not every project needs every item. We include what your roof and your home actually need.
For roofs already in good condition and suitable for solar.
We survey the property and install the solar and battery system, with no roofing work that isn't needed.
For homes where repairs, partial renewal or a full reroof make sense before solar goes on. Depending on the roof, the work may include:
The panels become part of the roof covering instead of sitting on rails above the tiles, finishing flush with the roofline.
We use proven in-roof systems such as GSE In-Roof, chosen to suit the roof.
A full reroof in Bath, with the solar built into the new roof on both slopes. Cube managed the whole project: roof, solar, battery and electrics, from the scaffold to the plant room.
Roof condition is part of the first conversation and the survey. We look at the roof covering by drone and from the ground, and check the loft where we can. The aim is simple: to choose the right route before anything is designed.
The roof appears suitable for solar without significant roofing work.
Repairs or remedial work may be sensible before the solar goes on.
The roof may be better renewed before installing a long-life solar system.
This is a practical assessment to help choose the right installation route. It is not a structural survey or a formal roofing inspection. Where roofing work is recommended, our roofing specialists inspect the roof before the work is priced.
This is not about adding solar to a roof as quickly as possible.
It is about designing the roof, solar, battery and electrical system so the finished installation looks right, performs properly and is built for the long term.
Roof, panel layout, cable routes and equipment positions planned at the same time.
One scaffold, one programme, and trades that follow each other in the right order.
The option of in-roof solar, and flashings and penetrations designed in rather than added later.
A renewed roof under the panels means less likelihood of removing them for roof work.
One managed project and one main point of contact, so nothing falls between trades.
The people who designed the system check the finished installation and commission it.

If the roof has many years of life left, no. If it is likely to need replacing within the life of the panels, it is usually better to deal with the roof first, or at the same time, rather than lift the panels off and refit them later. We look at the roof as part of the survey and tell you which route makes sense.
Yes, and it is often the best time. The scaffold is already up and the roof is open, so the solar can be planned into the roof rather than fitted on top of it afterwards. With in-roof systems, the panels go in as part of the new roof covering.
The in-roof mounting usually costs a little more than a standard rail system. On a reroof the gap narrows, because the panels replace tiles you would otherwise buy. We price both options at survey so you can compare them properly.
Yes. You get one survey, one quote and one point of contact. Cube manages the project from survey to handover. The roofing is carried out by experienced roofing specialists working as part of the Cube project, and the solar, battery and electrical work is done by our own team.
Yes. The battery, inverter and any electrical upgrades are designed alongside the roof and solar, so cable routes, equipment positions and the consumer unit are planned once rather than worked around later.
No. Standard on-roof panels work perfectly well on a new roof. In-roof suits people who care about how the roof looks, or where planning or the street makes a lower profile sensible. We will show you both.
Sometimes. It depends on their condition, the tile type and how many are needed. Where tiles are sound and available in enough quantity, reuse can be sensible, particularly on period properties. We will say honestly whether it is practical.
Yes. If you already have a roofer or architect involved, we can work with them on the solar and electrical design and sequencing. Tell us at the start so the responsibilities are clear from day one.
No. The solar panels and battery are currently zero-rated for VAT when installed in a home, until 31 March 2027, after which the rate is due to become 5%. Roofing work is standard-rated at 20%. Your quote shows each part separately, so it is clear what you are paying for.
We do. A full reroof normally needs Building Regulations approval, while smaller repairs often do not. Where approval is required, we arrange it, and the completion certificate is included in your handover pack.
The earlier we can look at the roof, solar layout and electrical requirements together, the easier it is to design the project properly.
